Position Summary
Reporting directly to the Plant Manager, the Production Manager is responsible for managing all aspects of the paper machine processes and assigned team members. The position is responsible for leading, guiding and mentoring direct reports and other as assigned whether direct or indirect. As experienced manager, your authority of competence combined with your leadership enables you to engage your team, develop employees’ skills, manage the production in your technical scope of responsibilities, find and implement effective solutions in case of malfunctions.
Main responsibilities:
- Organize, coordinate and control production.
- Supervises, coordinates, guides, recommends, mentors and provides leadership to and reviews the work of assigned staff.
- Coach, lead and engage a team of approximately 60 people.
- Coordinates good relationships with Supply Chain (ie. Scheduling), Customer Service, Maintenance and Operations/R&D/Engineering to ensure production standards and goals are met.
- Leads, supervises, guides, recommends day-to-day departmental operations, assigns people and controls costs.
- Evaluates manufacturing processes and gives direction as needed. Ensures processes follow ISO standards and other company policies and procedures.
- Reviews product specifications and processes.
- Remains current and relevant with new equipment / chemicals / processes / procedures to assist in continual improvement of safety, environmental impact, quality, and productivity.
- Initiates plans and continuous feedback to motivate employees to achieve work goals and career paths; fosters harmonious relationships and collaboration among teams and other functional areas.
- Interprets and enforces company policies, rules, and safety regulations.
- Analyzes, resolves, guides and recommends solutions to work-related problems, or assists and empowers supervisors in solving-work related problems or challenges.
- Performs such individual assignments as directed; establishes and maintains effective work relationships within the department, the Group; and maintains the professional competence, knowledge and skill necessary for the satisfactory performance of all assigned responsibilities.
- Performs those administrative activities necessary for the effective management of the department, including provision for the selection and development of employees, budget administration, employee safety, employee counseling and motivation, organization goals and objectives, and planning, organizing, integrating and measuring the work performed within the department.
- Acts as a change agent and continuous improvement promoter for positive employee engagement
Requirements
Education, Experience, Skills And Other Requirements
- Graduated Engineer.
- At least 5 years of significant production team management experience in industry working in shifts.
- As a field manager, your actions are guided by your strong values of commitment, integrity and trust.
- Passionate about production and its tools, you like to develop, grow your employees, advance processes and projects.
- Proposal force within the Production leadership team and your peers, you know how to support change and change mindsets.
- Strong operational and managerial involvement to prioritize safety without compromise.
- Analytical skills and innovation mindset, power of proposal to advance the machine technically.
- A manager who listens to your teams, your ability to understand, adapt and communicate helps you to get your employees involved in improvement projects and practice changes.
- Interest in the production of technical products and ability to integrate into operational teams with strong technical components.
- Flexible and adaptable, you can also show authority to your teams when necessary.
- French mother tongue with good practice of English (professional and technical) for effective communication in an international environment.
- Mechanical and Chemical aptitude as pertained to papermaking theory and troubleshooting.
