Hinojosa Packaging Group, the Spanish producer specialising in sustainable packaging solutions, has published its 2025 Sustainability Report, coinciding with the approval of the company’s 2030 Sustainability Plan, the roadmap that will guide environmental, social and governance (ESG) actions in the upcoming years.

With nearly 80 years of experience and a network of 24 plants in Spain, France, Portugal and Italy, last year the group completed the integration of ASV Packaging, now Hinojosa Folding Packaging France. Thanks to this milestone, Hinojosa offers a comprehensive range of sustainable packaging solutions in France and strengthens its decentralised management model to provide its customers with a responsive and agile service.

Progress in decarbonization, operational efficiency and circular economy

The 2025 financial year confirmed the company’s progress in the transition towards a low-carbon model validated by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi). In this regard, Hinojosa achieved a 64% share of energy consumption from renewable sources, while reducing energy intensity by 12% through improved energy efficiency at several production plants.

Thanks to projects under the Circular Economy PERTE, Hinojosa Paper’s Spanish division has reduced waste generation by 25% at the plants in L’Alqueria d’Asnar and Sarrià de Ter. In addition, 92.65% of the waste generated by the company is now sent for recovery, further strengthening the circular economy model. In terms of water management, Hinojosa received a B- rating in its first CDP Water report, reflecting increasingly efficient use of this resource.

Applied innovation and global talent development

During 2025, the company worked to integrate artificial intelligence into its day-to-day operations, in order to optimise processes and continue creating value for customers through the launch of IA Lab. Among its AI use cases, there are projects focused on reducing waste, improving digital quality control and optimising the structural design of packaging.

With the aim of further improving service level, Hinojosa also developed their own Product Carbon Footprint Calculator, a tool that enables the company to quantify, compare and communicate the environmental impact of its packaging solutions in a comprehensive way, supporting customers in their shared goal of reducing emissions.

Finally, in terms of human capital, Hinojosa ended the year with a workforce of more than 3,000 professionals and over €1.2 million invested in training. Key initiatives include the expansion of the Metatop Campus to the French plants in order to provide internal talent with knowledge of technical aspects of Hinojosa’s business. Last year also saw the launch of the third edition of the Hinojosa Graduates Programme, designed to attract young talent. With the same objective, two years ago the company also established the Hinojosa Chair with the Universitat Politècnica de València, which seeks to promote technical development in the packaging sector.

In terms of safety, last year the company launched the “Safety starts with you” campaign, an initiative aimed at humanising the company’s safety culture by connecting workplace safety with employees’ personal lives.
