Saica Group is pleased to announce that the European Commission has approved the acquisition of Thimm Group’s plants located in Germany, Poland, the Czech Republic, and Romania, effective July 24, 2026. This includes all operations across these four countries: nine corrugated board plants situated in Alzey (Germany), Wolnzach (Germany), Eberswalde (Germany), Castrop-Rauxel (Germany), Northeim (Germany), Tychy (Poland), Skarbimierz (Poland), Všetaty (Czech Republic), and Sibiu (Romania), as well as a pre-print plant in Ilsenburg (Germany).

Through this operation, Saica's corrugated board production capacity will increase by 1,200 million square meters. Saica will employ approximately 2,500 additional team members.

“We are very pleased to welcome the Thimm team into Saica Group; their knowledge and skills are highly valued across the industry. Within Saica Group, our employees make the difference: they are the driving force of our organization. We are convinced they will contribute to Saica's future and success,” explained Susana Alejandro, President and CEO of Saica Group.

“This transaction marks a very important milestone for us; it represents a major step forward in Saica’s growth strategy, aiming to further expand our infrastructure and services in Central and Eastern Europe. It aligns perfectly with the company’s development plans outlined in Saica 2025, the group’s strategic plan,” she concluded.

This acquisition enables Saica to pursue its goal of developing local markets, getting closer to its customers, and offering them comprehensive solutions to meet all their packaging needs.
