Twenty-two delegates from the Sheet Plant Association's (SPA) Emerging Leaders Programme recently gathered at Sheard Packaging for the third module of the industry's flagship leadership development programme.
The module, entitled Managing and Building Teams, focused on developing the skills and behaviours required to lead, motivate and support high-performing teams within today's corrugated packaging industry. Through interactive learning and discussion, delegates explored the practical challenges and opportunities associated with effective leadership and team development.
As part of the day's programme, delegates were joined by members of the Sheard Packaging leadership team, Roger Whittaker, Lee Shackleton and Dave Hainsworth, who delivered an engaging HIGTH session, sharing insights from their own leadership journeys. Their experiences provided valuable real-world perspectives on leadership, decision-making and personal development, generating lively discussion and reflection amongst participants.
The SPA Emerging Leaders Programme is a two-year development initiative designed specifically for ambitious individuals working within the corrugated packaging sector. Combining structured learning modules, industry visits, individual projects, HIGTH sessions and networking opportunities, the programme helps participants develop the leadership, management, commercial and interpersonal skills required to progress into future leadership positions.
As the corrugated packaging industry continues to invest in its people and future talent, the Emerging Leaders Programme plays an important role in supporting succession planning and developing the next generation of industry leaders.
