Delfort, a global manufacturer of specialty papers, has announced a major investment in new pressboard production capacity for electrical insulation applications. The new machine will be installed at the company’s Tervakoski site in Finland and is scheduled to start operations in 2027.

With more than 100 years of experience, delfort is a trusted partner to transformer manufacturers worldwide. The investment responds to the growing global demand for electrical insulation materials, driven by grid expansion and the replacement of aging infrastructure.

Pressboard plays a critical role in power transformers by providing both electrical insulation and mechanical stability, ensuring reliable operation and long service life.

For this strategic project, delfort has once again selected Bellmer GmbH as its technology partner. Bellmer is a leading supplier of complete transformer board production lines and brings extensive expertise in engineering and process integration. This latest order marks the fourth project awarded to Bellmer within the past 18 months, underlining the strong and successful partnership between the two companies.

For the new line, Bellmer will deliver a comprehensive, integrated solution from a single source, including the complete stock preparation system, advanced headbox technology, forming section with format roll, and the wet press section. This holistic approach ensures optimal process efficiency, consistent product quality, and reliable operation.

The new pressboard machine is also fully aligned with delfort’s sustainability strategy. It will be integrated into the site’s renewable energy concept, including electrified steam production and the use of industrial waste heat, significantly reducing the CO₂ footprint of production.

With this investment and the continued collaboration with Bellmer, delfort strengthens its position as a key supplier to the global transformer industry—while both partners jointly set new standards in performance, reliability, and sustainable production of transformer insulation materials.
