Lalique Beauty, a member of the Lalique Group rooted in the House’s iconic heritage, has called upon the expertise of DS Smith—an International Paper company and a global provider of sustainable cellulose fiber-based packaging—to support the launch of its new home fragrance collection, Tales of Light. DS Smith designed and manufactured the folding boxes and inserts for the entire collection, which includes six scented candles and three diffusers.

A packaging solution for historic savoir-faire

The Tales of Light collection by Lalique Beauty is the first to showcase the brand's new visual identity. It features six scented candles—L’Escapade, L’Atelier, La Comédie, La Demeure, La Muse, and La Verrerie—alongside three diffusers.

The collection is produced at Lalique’s manufacturing site in Ury, France—a center of excellence blending traditional craftsmanship with cutting-edge technology—and draws inspiration from the shape of the furnaces at Lalique's historic crystal works in Wingen-sur-Moder, Alsace.

For this new collection, the collaboration with DS Smith allowed this House of artisanal excellence to integrate sustainability at the heart of a bespoke packaging design. A unique, fully recyclable FSC®-certified cardboard material was used to implement this design.

The corrugated cardboard inserts are coated with an anti-abrasion varnish to protect the delicately crafted glass candle jars. The boxes are produced using graphic papers to ensure high-quality offset printing and carefully selected varnishes. Furthermore, embossing was applied to create a texture reminiscent of satin-finished crystal, a signature emblem of Maison Lalique, characterized by its translucent appearance and soft, velvety touch.

The packaging also highlights the new logo of the Tales of Light home fragrance collection. The illustration depicts swallows—dear to the House’s founder René Lalique—escaping from a symbolic historic circle, suggesting the beginning of a new journey.

Sustainable packaging highlights for Lalique Beauty’s "Tales of Light" collection:

  • Protection: Corrugated cardboard inserts to protect delicate glass jars, featuring an anti-scratch varnish.

  • Haute-couture finish: Made from graphic papers, the boxes feature offset printing, spot varnish, and a subtle grain evoking Maison Lalique’s iconic satin crystal.

  • Stamped logo: A revisited illustration incorporating new historical references.

Lalique Beauty: "With Tales of Light, we wanted to create a collection that reflects Lalique’s unique approach: a dialogue between light, materials, and savoir-faire, all while adopting a more sustainable approach to packaging."

Marie Labouret, Sales and Marketing Director, DS Smith Packaging Consumer France: "We are truly honored to have collaborated with Lalique Beauty on this new Tales of Light collection, designed with the utmost care. The packaging solution is both aesthetic and ergonomic, with a design that evokes the elegance of the Art Deco era. We utilized our fully sustainable cardboard materials, paying meticulous attention to detail, the brand's heritage, and Lalique Beauty's historic craftsmanship. We are proud of the result, for both the interior and exterior of these premium boxes."

The new exclusive Tales of Light home fragrance collection from Lalique Beauty is expected to be available online and in the brand's boutiques worldwide starting May 2026.
