Leif Frilund, long-serving President and CEO of Walki Group, has decided to retire at the end of 2026. Effective January 1, 2027, Kari Salminen, currently Deputy CEO and Executive Vice President, Business Area Packaging Materials, will assume the role of President and CEO of Walki Group.
As part of this leadership transition, Timo Saahko will be appointed Executive Vice President, Packaging Materials, and a member of the Group Executive Team as of October 1, 2026. Timo joins Walki from his current position as Managing Director of Mölnlycke Health Care Oy. He also brings extensive experience from previous roles within Walki, having worked in several positions across Germany, the United Kingdom, China, Finland and Poland.
During the fourth quarter of 2026, Kari will work closely with Leif in his capacity as Deputy CEO to ensure a smooth and effective transition of leadership ahead of assuming the CEO role on January 1, 2027.
