Sappi Europe today announced that it has accepted an offer from Camvac International Ltd to acquire Rockwell Solutions, a Scotland-based specialist in barrier coatings and heat-sealable lidding films.
Rockwell Solutions operated as a standalone business within the Sappi Group serving customers in specialist film packaging applications. Since its acquisition by Sappi in 2017, the business underwent a significant transformation, aligning with Sappi’s global standards for safety, operational excellence and efficiency.
Sappi is a fibre-based business. Over time, the strategic rationale that existed at the point of Rockwell’s acquisition has evolved, leading to Sappi’s review of the long-term ownership structure for the business. As a result, Sappi believes Rockwell will be best positioned for future growth under this new ownership.
Since joining Sappi, Rockwell has made significant progress and today stands as a strong, profitable and well-managed business. We are proud of what the Rockwell team has achieved and believe that Camvac International Ltd, with its clear focus on film-based packaging, provides the right strategic home for the next phase of the business’s development. This transaction enables Rockwell to continue building on its strengths, while remaining fully focused on serving its customers and supporting its people. said Marco Eikelenboom, Chief Executive Officer of Sappi Europe
Camvac International Ltd specialises in packaging metallised films and laminate films and offers strong strategic alignment with Rockwell’s product portfolio. The transaction also provides geographic continuity, with both businesses based in the UK.
This transaction is entirely separate from, and unrelated to, the proposed Joint Venture between Sappi and UPM.
