Suzano, the world's largest producer of eucalyptus short-fiber pulp, announced on Tuesday (22) that it will raise prices in October across its key markets: the Americas, Europe, China and the rest of Asia.
In the Americas and Europe, the increase will be US$50 per tonne, taking the reference price for short-fiber pulp in Europe to approximately US$1,360 per tonne. This marks the company's first adjustment in these regions in roughly five months — Suzano last announced a US$50-per-tonne hike in April, which took effect in May.
Asia sees second increase in under a month
Asia will see a more moderate adjustment of US$20 per tonne, also effective in October — notably, less than a month after the company implemented an increase of the same amount in the region.
Short-fiber pulp currently trades in Asia at between US$570 and US$580 per tonne. With the new adjustment, prices are expected to move into the US$590–600 range.
The increases come as Suzano continues to closely monitor international pulp price trends and supply-demand dynamics in the main consumer markets.
