The Argentinian Association of Pulp and Paper Manufacturers (AFCP) launched its annual  Jornadas Celulosicas conference this week in Buenos Aires, bringing together industry executives, technical experts, and stakeholders from across Argentina's paper and pulp sector.

The two-day event features a comprehensive program beginning with a series of technical presentations covering the latest developments in pulp and paper manufacturing processes, sustainability innovations, and production technologies. Industry specialists will share insights on operational improvements and emerging trends affecting the sector. Among the speakers are Fabien Cerutti of Kadant, Afonso Sá Moreira of Techpap, Fernando Winckler Balen of Hergen, Hugo Rodolfo Corti for Firefly, Wellington Carlos Vieira Junior of Voith, Joao Paulo Caetano  of Archroma and Fernando Correa of AFRY

Following the technical sessions, the President of AFCP Claudio Terrés will invite participants to engage in strategic outlook discussions examining the current landscape of Argentina's paper industry. These discussions are expected to address both the pressing challenges facing local manufacturers—including raw material costs, regulatory changes, and market competition—as well as emerging opportunities for growth and modernization.

The conference serves as a critical forum for Argentina's paper industry at a time when manufacturers are navigating evolving market conditions and seeking pathways for sustainable development. With representatives from major pulp and paper companies in attendance, the event provides a platform for collaborative problem-solving and strategic planning.

The Jornadas Celulosicas continue tomorrow, with technical visits of the Papel Pampa mill and Montes del Plata in nearby Uruguay.
